The functional test

A complementary solution

Testability studies or specifications always leave room for functional test elements to a greater or lesser extent.

Depending on the case, we develop the test on a bed of nails, using the functions provided by the design office or included in the specifications or operating manual.

This is sometimes the only or most economical solution for small cards with a single function.

When components are boundary scanned, the JTAG bus is an efficient means of functionally verifying the product.

Self-tests

This step is often associated with component programming, which incorporates a BIST (Built-In Self-Test) whose execution qualifies the correct operation or the presence of a fault.

As map density evolves and accessibility decreases, we are increasingly forced to resort to this technique or to use the JTAG bus to perfect satisfactory test coverage.

This method sometimes requires the use of a double contact level between the card and the bed of nails.

Manual test benches

This manual device enables self-testing of a board. Suitable for small production runs, it features a stand-alone test system based on integrated test software. The lever makes it possible to quickly connect the elements required to perform the test of the assembly.
