Importance of testing
Testing is the cornerstone of quality assurance for electronic boards, ensuring that the board produced functions correctly before it is used.
Several methods are available to check the conformity of an electronic product as it leaves the production line.
The first that comes to mind is the functional test, which verifies the product's various characteristics. Necessary for the design office to qualify the product, it is often ill-suited to a production cycle.
Other solutions are also available, such as automatic visual inspection (AOI), X-ray inspection (AXI) and electrical testing (in-situ and functional).
We intervene as early as possible in the very definition of the product to imagine the best strategy to be implement in the manufacturing cycle.
By analyzing the schematic and the characteristics of the various components (JTAG or not), we can define which nodes will not need access to the bed of nails, while those that are essential or special (kelvin measurement, HF, etc.) will be highlighted. In this way, we can obtain a map with a low rate of electrical accessibility, while still having good fault coverage at the In-Situ stage. The cost of the bed of nails can thus be greatly reduced.
Predictive testability based on the resources deployed is a guarantee of product quality.
The work carried out in this stage will have a significant impact on the quality of the test equipment and the time required to complete it.
